About this fabric
Recycled polyester is made from post-consumer plastic, usually PET bottles, that is cleaned, melted and spun into new yarn. Once knitted, it behaves almost exactly like virgin polyester: it takes sublimation the same way, wicks the same way and lasts as long.
The differences are in cost and supply. Recycled yarn usually costs a little more, and availability of specific weights can vary. If your market or retailers require proof of recycled content, ask for the fabric mill's documentation before you order — we will tell you what is available for the fabric you choose. Our article on polyester vs recycled polyester covers the decision in more detail.
Colours
White or light base for sublimation — the colour comes from the print, so any shade is possible.
Care
- Wash at 30°C inside out with similar colours
- Do not bleach or use fabric softener — it blocks moisture wicking
- Do not tumble dry on high heat; line dry
- Do not iron over prints or transfers
